My name is Ryan Balanecki this is my story.

Back in the early 2010s, life was a routine for me, driving to Calgary for weekly oilfield meetings. Alone in the car, I would find solace in turning up the radio and singing along to my favorite country songs. Little did I know that one of these trips in July 2012 would spark a transformative desire within me – the desire to learn how to sing better, play the guitar, and maybe even write a song someday. This is the story of how that desire led me to a remarkable partnership with Kym, my vocal coach, and the birth of our music venture, Red 19 Entertainment Inc.

Discovering a New Passion:

With a company that demanded frequent trips and plenty of alone time, I found myself inspired to improve my singing and guitar skills. Knowing that my daughter, Sarah, had been taking vocal lessons from Kym for several years, I reached out to her, hoping she would be willing to teach an adult student like me. Graciously, Kym agreed to take me on as her student, and our lessons began in the fall of 2012.

A Journey of Learning and Growth:

Starting from scratch with zero experience in vocal training or playing the guitar, I embarked on a somewhat intimidating journey. However, Kym's guidance and expertise provided the foundation for my development. As we progressed, my goals expanded to include songwriting, which had long been a dream of mine. Together, we wrote our first song titled "Goodnight My Love," and to date, we have co-written a total of seven songs.

From Student to Partner:

Beyond the confines of our lessons, Kym and I developed a strong friendship. We often discussed her music career aspirations, and her desire to return to the recording studio resonated with me. Intrigued by the idea of collaborating on a project, we decided to take a leap of faith and establish our own company. Rather than simply becoming Kym's manager, we envisioned an artist development organization that could support emerging talents and potentially expand into event management.

The Birth of Red 19 Entertainment Inc.:

As we laid the groundwork for our new venture, the first task at hand was to choose a remarkable company name. Through brainstorming sessions, we found ourselves drawn to the number 19. It held sentimental value for both of us – a homage to my favorite hockey player, Steve Yzerman, and coincidentally, Kym's birth date. Combining the significance of the number with Kym's trademark vibrant red hair, we birthed the name Red 19 Entertainment Inc.

A New Chapter Begins:

In July 2015, we eagerly signed the paperwork at our lawyer's office. Interestingly, the event took place on the 19th floor, further affirming our decision. Red 19 Entertainment was officially born, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in our lives.

In 2015, Red 19 Entertainment started its business with the goal of bringing positivity and light into people's lives by supporting local music and businesses. Over the years, they worked with many artists and booked numerous bands, eventually expanding into hosting live events. Their focus on supporting local music and businesses remained at the core of their values, and they soon realized that they wanted to host an outdoor music festival in Devon.

Their first big indoor concert with the George Canyon tour in Devon in 2019 made them realize that they wanted to bring big acts to small towns. They began planning for Devon's first outdoor festival, but the COVID-19 pandemic put everything on hold. However, the Town of Devon continued to support their vision, and when the opportunity arose to host a festival in the summer of 2021, DevonFest was born.

Despite having only a month and 20 days to plan, Red 19 Entertainment managed to organize a festival for about 1500 people at the park. It was a celebration of life and music after such a long period without live entertainment. The community was alive again, and the feeling was indescribable. They decided to make DevonFest a part of Devon and Red 19's legacy.

The following year, summer of 2022, they took on the event again, this time with a capacity of 2500 people. DevonFest was a sold-out show, and everyone had the best time. Red 19 Entertainment was grateful for the community's support, and they knew that DevonFest would continue for years to come.

Now in its third year, DevonFest 2023 is growing into an even bigger and better festival than ever. It is now a two-day event featuring top country stars. Red 19 Entertainment feels that this is just the beginning of a beautiful, magical, and community-spirited event. They look forward to growing more and having exciting events in the future for families and friends, including singing, dancing, and having a fabulous time.
